Caller ID FAQ
Hi! We're delighted to have you as part of the LSM Caller ID App family. Our goal is to make your experience as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Whether you're our regular user or just getting started, this page is here to assist you with any questions or concerns you might have.
1. Why should I use the Caller ID app?
LSM Caller ID app enables you to see and know who is calling you even though you do not have this individual saved in your contact list. By installing and using our Caller ID App, you can avoid spam calls, protect yourself from fraud attempts, and thanks to our vast database, you can know who is calling even if you didn’t save the number!
Oh, and it's free for you to install and use.
2. How does it work?
The name you will see on the screen when using the Caller ID App, is the common name suggestion based on the caller’s phone number and contact name as provided to LSM by our users. Once the user provided explicit consent to share its contacts with us, we sync the list with our database and the most common name will be used.
For example, if a specific number is referred to “John Adam” in 22 lists and “John Adams” in one list, we will assume the accurate name is John Adam.
3. What if I received a call from a number and I don't see a name?
If you receive a call from a number that Caller ID didn't detect the name form, this person is probably not in our database yet and we don't have a suggested name for him yet.
4. What are those permission requests I received?
In order to provide you with our services we need the following permissions:
-
We will ask for access for your contact book list; and
-
We will ask permission to access the phone dialer, to enable the us to access incoming calls.
We use these permission to identify your callers, including if this caller is active in the last 6 months in order to detect spam and fraud, to provide you with the most accurate information we can, and for making sure the number is actually associated with a caller and is not a bot or otherwise a spammer.
Any Android or iOS permissions need to be actively enabled through this in-app permission or the mobile settings. You may disable the permissions at any time, but depending on the permission you disable, a feature or all features may not function properly.
5. What if I don’t want people to know who I am?
If you are not our user, you can click HERE to submit a request to opt out your details. We will put you on our suppression list and following your request the database will be automatically update. Our Caller ID App is constantly changing in accordance of each update LSM has completed. So don't worry, we will not present your phone number or name to users and you will not appear as a contact of our Caller ID app’s users.
Please know, you can opt out at any time, but if you are saved as a contact person in our user's contact list, you will still appear as a contact when you call him.
For Apple Devices:
iOS non-users – when using the iOS operational system, the contact database is being saved on-device. Hence, if you requested to opt-out, LSM will put you on the suppression list, but the users’ device will not automatically be receiving the updates, rather the user of the Caller ID App must actively enter the App in order for the database to refresh and update.
Note, in case our user did not actively enter to his Caller ID App on his device, you will still appear as a contact of our Caller ID App’s users, even after we removed you from our contact database and put you on the suppression list.
Finally, you may also submit a data subject request form, available HERE, requesting for opting out of personal data, at: dpo@lsmapps.com and we will take care your request.
